New York Personal Trainer Spills Secrets
on How to Overcome Fitness Pitfalls

As with any worthwhile undertaking, getting fit can be a challenge.  My years of experience in the New York personal training business have allowed me to help countless clients conquer every possible fitness obstacle that arose.

If you are trying to lose weight and become healthier, you will certainly encounter some major obstacles on your journey to your desired weight.  How you deal with these hurdles will impact whether your fitness program will be successful or not.  Here are some of the common problems that I have helped my clients beat when I was working with them as a New York personal trainer, and some of the best solutions to them.

Boredom – People just get sick of eating the same bland food and doing the same workout routine every day.  With regards to food, I suggest people maximize the spice rack, or substitute different vegetables in their usual recipes.  For example, if you are tired of the same egg whites every morning, try adding chopped bell peppers or onions to make an omelet.  If you are getting tired of your go to chicken and veggie stir fry, try using a different spice, such as some jerk seasoning for a Caribbean surprise.  Keep in mind that spices have almost no calories, so feel free to test them out and create some variety in your meals.

On the topic of exercise, you should change up your workout to counteract the dullness of doing the same thing.  The change will serve to keep you motivated and make your exercise more effective because you’re using your muscles differently.  New York personal trainers can certainly ensure you have varied exercises in your program.
Family and Friends - If your family and friends are not on personal training programs themselves, they will not understand the challenges you face.  They may sometimes unintentionally sabotage your efforts by offering you lasagna or asking you to hang out during your scheduled workout.  Usually a good talk with the people you care about will make them more aware of your goals and how they can help.

Not having the time – This is probably the biggest excuse that people give for not working out or eating right.  They are too busy to get to the gym, and they can’t spend 15 mins to prepare a healthy meal, so they order takeout instead.

Scheduling the appointment to meet a personal trainer at the gym creates that block of time.  If you really feel that you can’t manage that, you can incorporate exercise into your daily activities, such as using a home treadmill while watching TV at night.  You don’t have to sacrifice your time with a significant other if you take brisk walks together several times a week.  You can even use your lunch break to go walking around your office building.  Any activity done regularly will help you reach your weight loss targets.

Frustration – It doesn’t feel good to keep working out and not see results.  As a personal trainer in New York I have had new clients tell me that they gave up on past fitness programs because they felt that they weren’t making enough progress towards their goals.  The best way to see the proof of your efforts is by keeping a fitness journal, where you document your workouts, weight and measurements.  This way you would see that you are indeed making progress, even if you don’t feel like you are.
